Chicago is full of many highlights from the Sears Tower and the L-Train to the Chicago Bulls but one activity everyone recommends is the Architecture Tour. On a recent trip to Windy City I was struck by the number of people saying, you must do the Chicago River Architecture Tour! So naturally, with that much enthusiasm, I had to check it out and I wasn’t disappointed!
Chicago sits on Lake Michigan and is the birthplace of the skyscraper. Tall buildings dot the Chicago skyline, including the famous Sears Tower, which at 108 stories, is the tallest building in America. But it’s not just the new buildings that attract the tourists the original skyscrapers dating back to 1885 are a massive drawcard too.
Starting on the Chicago River, the Architecture Tour takes you on a fascinating exploration of the city. The one-hour narrated boat ride takes you on a history tour of the city while traveling up-and-down the famous Chicago Rivers. I loved walking Chicago’s streets but from the water the city looks breathtaking. I went with and can recommend Wendella Tours but there are several tour operators.
Have you done the tour and what did you think of it? I would love to hear your comments!
